Nominated PM Stolojan makes room for somebody else, again

without comments

The nominated Romanian prime minister Teodor Stolojan has just announced he would step down from the PM position and has made room for party colleague Emil Boc. It’s the second time in his life Stolojan pulls of such a scheme. The first was during the last presidential elections, when he was poised to run for president as a representative of the Democratic Party, while the current president Basescu was the person to fill the PM seat. But Stolojan withdraw in a melodramatic scene and Basescu took his place and eventually became president. And now Basescu nominated Stolojan, leaves his name make the headline all over the Romanian media, and one week after, along comes Emil Boc. I think Boc was their idea of PM in the first place, but Stolojan was thrown in the game to have people criticizing “Oh, not Stolojan again!” – because Stolojan has previosuly been a PM – so that Emil Boc seemed a better choice afterwards. “I prefer him instead of Stolojan!” many would say. That’s how I see it.
